Bookings to travel by air between Madeira and Porto Santo, through Binter, were unblocked yesterday morning.
Originally, passengers were unable to book trips between the two islands beyond Sunday, due to the expiration of the already extended contract. However, before noon a new agreement had been struck between Binter Airways and the Government of Portugal.
The extension is for five months and now expires on the 22nd of September. Not an ideal situation, because of the uncertainty surrounding air travel between the two islands. This does, however, allow for summer holiday bookings as well as providing a life line to the outside world for Porto Santo residents.
