Manuel Correia, a 79-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer’s, and who had been missing since late yesterday afternoon, has been found.
He was reported missing after he failed to return from his evening cup of coffee. The man who lives in the Poço Barral area, in São Martinho, was last seen around 8:55 pm, on Caminho dos Três Paus à Viana, in Santo António.
According to a Fire Department, the man who was injured and alone was found in the area of Eira do Serrado by a group of tourists.
Luckily the tourists stopped and helped the man, as well as phoning the emergency services. Once the alert was received a team from the Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Firefighters were sent to the scene. The man was then transported to hospital and would have been seen by an emergency medical team before returning home.
