The Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters were, early this afternoon, called out to provide aid to a young tourist, an individual who was stabbed while walking in the middle of Funchal.
According to a fire department source, the 19-year-old victim suffered a wound in the chest area, believed to be a stab wound.
The man was assaulted while walking along Praça do Povo, in Funchal, where he was eventually helped by the EMIR medical team and the pre-hospital team of the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters.
Seriously injured, the young tourist was transported to hospital, where he was admitted to the emergency department.
