Starting at 4:00 pm tomorrow, the ‘People’s Parade or Trapalhão Parade will begin, as part of the Carnival Festivities promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Tourism and Culture, through the Regional Directorate for Tourism.
The Philharmonic Band of Casa do Povo de São Vicente will open the parade, preceded by a group of entertainers who intend to amuse and entertain all those present.
Participation is open to all, national and foreign, and can be done individually, as a couple, or in groups in the different categories: Adults, Children, Groups, from which the Best Theme is chosen, Animation, School Animation, and Solidarity Animation; Trapalhão and Transvestite.
Those interested in taking part should register tomorrow, between 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm, on Avenida Francisco Sá Carneiro in front of Vespas. The awards ceremony of the Trapalhão Parade will take place from 18:00 on the stage of Praça da Restauração.
Please note that if you are driving through Funchal tomorrow various roads will be closed as the Trapalhão Parade departs from Avenida Francisco Sá Carneiro, and winds its way through the Francisco Sá Carneiro Roundabout, Avenida do Mar and Comunidades Madeirenses (south lane), until Praça da Autonomia.
