Last week, a man blindfolded the statue in front of the Palace of Justice, Funchal.
The perpetrator made a point of staying on top of the statue taking selfies, being the object of selfies, and greeting passers-by who caught up in the confusion were questioning his motives.
The individual’s shirt read: “Stop corruption Freedom Madeira Now.”
His demonstration was cut short by the arrival of a plain-clothes policeman. The man is said to have left without causing any further disturbance.
