The importance of the Funchal Market Night, has justified the creation of its own website, noitedomercado.funchal.pt.
There will be 16 hours of uninterrupted entertainment, but without disco music, as underlined by Pedro Calado, at the presentation session, this afternoon, at the City Hall.
New this year is a giant screen at the door of the market which will broadcast the songs sung in the fish market.
The Market Night will take place from 08:00 on the 23rd (Saturday) until 4:00 am on the 24th (Sunday), with 11 fruit and vegetable sales points on Latino Coelho Street, 9 festive foliage outlets, and 31 restaurants.
In addition, there are 20 food and drink stalls on Rua F Ornelas and 11 on Rua D. Carlos l. In all, there are 57 points of sale. There will also be 3 places selling toys, on Rua D. Carlos I, and 3 small mobile food and drink units next to the Almirante Reis car park, Praça da Autonomia and Avenida do Mar.
At the entrance of the market, at 20:30 donations will be delivered to three institutions; the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Foundation; the Lions; and the São José Cultural and Sports Centre. These funds are the result of last year’s and this year’s auctions of sales spaces.
At 22:45 the carol service will begin.
