An 18-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were evacuated from a house that was on fire in three different locations in Rua do Pombal, Funchal, this afternoon.
According to local newspaper, JM, the cause of the fires was arson, and when the authorities arrived at the scene, they found the two asleep, totally unaware of the situation. The pair were quickly removed from the premises by the Public Security Police and then transported by ambulance to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital due to smoke inhalation.
A total of 14 personnel and five BVM vehicles attended the scene.
