The Integrated Communications Centre of the Regional Command for Relief Operations (CROS) received an alert today, that a 24-year-old man from Italy had fallen approximately 4 meters from the Levada das 25 Fontes, in the municipality of Calheta.
On receiving the call rescue team from the Calheta Volunteer Firefighters was immediately activated, once they had located the tourist and stabilised him, the heliborne brigade were called to airlift him to the Civil Protection Centre, where he was then transported to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
