Madeira currently has 154 licensed rent-a-car companies, 62 of which emerged this year, creating a new record.
However, not everyone is happy about this as existing companies complain that with so much competition their annual revenues are being affected. They, therefore, demand that there is greater supervision on what they believe is a saturated tourism sector.
