Two Portuguese Navy Frigates, the Bartolomeu Dias and Corte-Real, will be open to visitors on Saturday, the 14th of October, between 10:00 a.m. and noon and between 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
The two ships will arrive on Friday and will remain docked in the Port of Funchal until Sunday.
Both ships left Lisbon on Monday as part of a 4th year cadet and final-year Naval Academy training exercise. In addition to the Portuguese cadets – there is a Madeiran onboard alongside French, Angolan, and Santomean military personnel, under an exchange protocol.
According to the Portuguese Navy, this trip allows Naval Academy cadets to develop and work on their practical knowledge of navigation, seamanship, communications, and naval operations.
