The Sahara dust cloud affecting the island is expected to lighten from Wednesday. However, Victor Prior, Director of the Funchal Meteorological Observatory of the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea, believes that the dust cloud could remain until the end of the week.
Official temperatures indicate that the hot weather will remain until Sunday, with maximum daily temperatures reaching 32ºC, and minimums around 22ºC.
Both a drop in temperatures and rain are expected from next week.
