ARM – Águas e Resíduos da Madeira issued a statement earlier today confirming their scheduled waste collection service changes in the municipalities of Câmara de Lobos, Machico, Porto Santo, Ribeira Brava, and Santana, due to the municipal Câmara de Lobos public holiday on the 4th of October (Wednesday) and the national public holiday on the 5th (Thursday).
Câmara de Lobos:
- The collection of undifferentiated waste (normal garbage), 4th and 5th (days 4 and 5 of October), will be carried out on the same days, starting at 8 am, except for the collection of undifferentiated waste from the parish of Curral das Freiras, (5 October), which will be postponed to the 6th of October, beginning at 8 a.m.;
- The collection of selective waste of paper/cardboard (blue ecopoint), usually occurring on the 4th and 5th day of the week (days 4 and 5 of October), will be postponed to Saturday, the 7th of October, starting at 8 am;
- The collection of selective waste from plastic and metal packaging (yellow ecopoint), from Quinta Grande, Caldeira, and Garachico, usual to the 4th fair (day 4 of October), will be brought forward to Tuesday the 3rd of October, starting at 8 am.
5th of October Public Holiday 2023
Machico:
- The collection of undifferentiated waste (normal garbage), usually occurring on Thursday in the parish of Porto da Cruz (October 5), will be brought forward to the 4th of October starting at 9 am;
- The collection of selective waste from plastic and metal packaging, glass, and paper/cardboard (yellow, green, and blue ecopoint, respectively), will be carried out as usual.
Santana:
- The collection of undifferentiated waste (normal garbage), will be brought forward to the 4th of October starting at 9 am;
- The collection of selective waste from plastic and metal packaging (yellow ecodot), will take place on the 5th of October starting at 8 am.
Ribeira Brava:
- The collection of undifferentiated waste (normal garbage), will continue as usual.
- The collection of selective waste from plastic and metal packaging (yellow ecopoint), in the parish of Tabua, Serra de Água, and the Center of Ribeira Brava, will be brought forward to the 3rd of October starting at 9 am.
- The collection of selective waste of paper/cardboard (blue ecopoint), will now take place on Saturday the 7th of October.
Porto Santo:
- The collection of plastic and metal packaging waste (yellow ecodot), will now take place on the 4th of October, starting at 13:00.
- The collection of waste paper/card (blue ecopoint), will also be brought forward to the 4th starting at 13:00.

WASTE RECEPTION:
Regarding the reception of waste, it is informed that, on October 5 (national holiday), the Meia Serra Solid Waste Treatment Station (ETRS) will only receive waste for incineration and green waste, upon prior request and on which the respective tariff will be applied.
On the same date, the Madeira Island East Zone Transfer and Screening Station (ETZL/ET), the West Zone Transfer Station (ETZO) and the Porto Santo Solid Waste Processing Center (CPRS) will be closed.
