Despite the efforts of PSP agents, it was practically impossible to reach the summit of Pico do Areeiro from 08:00 this morning.
Due to the volume of parked cars and the way that some cars were parked, buses had to stop up to 2 km away and ask those passengers who wanted to see the top, to walk.
The situation has been complicated since early this morning by tourists who wanted to see the sunrise and abandoned their cars in the middle of the road. Tour operators and guides expressed their fury at the fact that this is an ongoing occurrence that shows no sign of improvement, especially with the lack of respect shown by tourists to other road users.
