With the end of the air link concession contract with Binter Airlines, those living in Porto Santo are still unsure if an air link to Madeira will be maintained.
The Regional Government, Chamber, and Binter Airlines are awaiting confirmation from the mainland government, while Porto Santo Mayor, Nuno Batista, admitted to local newspaper JM that there is an underlying fear that the island will be abandoned as it was in August 2018.
Concluding, he criticised the “lack of competence and planning” of António Costa’s government.
