On Monday, three dogs were poisoned in the Cardinals’ area of São Vincente.
The animals were in the care of a family and included a seven-year-old dog and two under the age of two. As part of their daily routine, they walked from their house to that of a relative and then back again. This did not happen on Monday, and the owner went out only to find that all three had been poisoned. One died at the scene, and the other two were immediately transported to a veterinary clinic but died later on.
The family is devasted at such cruelty and revealed that poisonings have happened in the past. Although reported to the Public Security Police, there has been little or no interest in investigating the cases and any complaints have been muffled and placed in a circular file. This time, the dog’s owner contacted JM to ensure that there was greater media coverage and that people living in the area will do their utmost to protect their pets.
