The President of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, José Manuel Rodrigues, today met with Pope Francis during the general audience held in the Vatican, St. Peter’s Square.
Speaking to reporters, he said:
“I had the opportunity to convey to His Holiness the thanks from the Regional Government, for the work that the Catholic Church has done for our islands over 600 years, especially in the fields of health, education, and culture.”
On the occasion, the President of the Madeiran Parliament offered the Pope a set of liturgical vestments embroidered with Madeira embroidery.
