The Russian ship ‘Akademik Tryoshnikov:’ a Russian Icebreaker!! Sailed past the west coast of Madeira this weekend without being accompanied by the Portuguese navy, state CNN Portugal.
Although two naval vessels are currently docked in the port of Funchal, ‘Orion’ and ‘Hydra,’ neither ship were requested to intercept or monitor the vessel’s movements.
The Akademik Tryoshnikov left Cape Town on the 11th of June, and is currently trundling off the UK coast en route to the Neko Harbour, Antarctica, which is in the southern hemisphere not the north!
