The Judicial Police, through the Department of Criminal Investigation of Madeira, reported today that they have detained and charged a 30-year-old man for attempted murder, after dousing a 34-year-old man in petrol and setting him alight after an argument.
According to a note sent to the newsroom, the incident occurred during the night of the 13th of June in Caniçal, where the assailant, under the influence of drugs, argued with another man and then set fire to him, resulting in the victim suffering from severe burns to his torso, arms, and head.
Having committed an act, which constitutes a ‘danger to life,’ the Judicial police were able to identify the perpetrator and arrest him.
