We have been advised that an old WhatsApp scam is back in circulation.
People are receiving messages via WhatsApp from an unknown number whose author claims to be their child and who is using a temporary number due to problems with their phone.
Do not be fooled, as this is probably just a scam. Further to the initial contact, a second message will ask you to transfer a specific sum via MB Way due to unforeseen circumstances. If you are in any doubt, please contact your child and ascertain the real situation before transferring any money.
The scam is not new, but scammers know that parents can be easily taken in when it comes to the safety of their children.
