The two defendants in the Monte Tree case, which killed 13 people and injured fifty people in August 2017, arrived in court today after the last session had to be abandoned after judicial staff went on strike.
Today was concerned with the hearing of the two defendants; the former Deputy Mayor of Funchal, Idalina Perestrelo, and the Head of the Division of Gardens and Green Spaces, Francisco Andrade. Standing up in court the defendant’s lawyers confirmed that their clients were available to give statements during the next sessions.
However, yet again, the hearings have been postponed due to industrial action.
According to local newspaper, JM, a session is scheduled for tomorrow, but it is uncertain as to whether this will take place.
