Taking to its Facebook page, a spokesperson for the Cathedral – Sé do Funchal, has confirmed that entry fees are not charged to visit, pray or attend Mass at this religious monument.
Their message reads:
“Currently there is in circulation news that we are charging a fee to enter the Cathedral. This has obviously been done to create trouble and false news.
We want to say the following on the subject:
We will NEVER charge an entry fee for those who want to pray or celebrate Mass at our Cathedral. Although we understand that many Churches and Cathedrals around the world charge an entry fee to tourists, we at the moment have not considered this.
We wish you all a Happy Sunday!”
