The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque today told Porto Santo residents to fly while the ferry undergoes its annual maintenance, as hiring a replacement ship would be ‘exorbitant!’
Responding to criticisms by the PS (Socialist Party), Miguel Albuquerque responded by saying that this debate raises its head every year and that the solution they have in place is both practical and economic, as Porto Santo residents can fly to Madeira for €10 during January.
He went on to reiterate that 50 seats are made available each day, which is perfectly sufficient, as only 21% of the available seats were used last year.
