Drunk Couple Force Aircraft to Land in Porto Santo

An EasyJet flight bound from Manchester to Tenerife, made an emergency landing at Porto Santo airport this afternoon due to an onboard dispute between two passengers.

According to the national press, a couple travelling on the flight were drunk and then started arguing with each other as the plane flew through Madeiran airspace. As aircraft, passenger, and crew safety were at risk the pilot requested permission to make an emergency landing in Porto Santo, where the aircraft was met by security forces, and the unruly couple were removed from the aircraft.

The whole process took approximately one hour, with the couple remaining in Porto Santo under the jurisdiction of the Public Security Police and SEF personnel.

Once authorised, the flight then resumed its course to Tenerife.
