Regional and national authorities are closely monitoring the situation in Jersey following what is believed to have been a gas explosion in a block of flats located on Pier Road, St. Helier.
The Secretary of State of the Portuguese Communities, Madeiran Paulo Cafôfo, has made it known that he is aware of the situation, which he says is tragic, and is in contact with consular services. As of the time of writing, it is believed that no Portuguese citizens have been harmed in the incident.
Information released confirms the death toll at five with four people still missing.
