Love Them! Hate Them! Bugs Are on The Menu!

The ‘Next’ hotel, the teenager of the Savoy Signature Group today held a press conference where all those invited were encouraged to enjoy a new nutritious bug-filled menu, with the main ingredients being locusts, crickets, tenebrium larvae (mealworm), and crispy tenebrium.
The main public tasting event takes place this Saturday, the 22nd of October at the Recharge Bar & Restaurant. The event, named ‘Bug Appetite’ will be a buffet dinner with accompanying DJs. 
The bug-themed buffet will comprise of tacos of crispy locusts, Mexican salsa, avocado, and mango; locust poke bowl, green papaya salad, and peanuts; tenebrio croquettes, mayonnaise, and kimuchi and lime; cricket skewers with yakiniku sauce, cebolo and furikake; bbq tenebrio mini burger; caramelized and tenebrio larva brownie with cane and tenebrium honey cream, locusts with dark chocolate and togarashi.
Working in conjunction with the Savoy chefs is Tecmafoods, who specialise in the production and transformation of insects into food.
After attending the event, one JM journalist quoted poet Fernando Pessoa, stating that this was one of those moments that made the saying ‘first strange, then ingrained’ make sense.
