After yesterday’s chaos with regard to pension and pension supplement payments, the Regional Secretary for Social Inclusion and Citizenship assured media outlets that CTT”s money woes with regard to the payment of pensions have been rectified.
“Although not being the direct responsibility of the Regional Government, we have endeavoured to understand the situation and come up with workable solutions.” Said Rita Andrade, indicating that this is a one-off situation, where the usual daily budget was insufficient to deal with the demand placed upon it.
Finally, she asked for people to remain calm, reiterating that she understood how important pensions and the pension supplement are to pensioners and that everything is being done to alleviate the situation.
An increase in the number of people claiming mobility allowances has further exacerbated the problem.
