Teams from the Sapadores Firefighters of Funchal, and the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters (BVM) carried out a River Rescue Operation this evening.
According to JM, an individual lost their footing and fell into the São João river. Suffering from multiple injuries, the victim had to be immobilised, and then hoisted from the river bottom onto the road, where he was transported to hospital by ambulance.
