Based on information received by the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA), Madeira will be under a yellow heavy rain warning between midnight and 6 am tomorrow.
The warning applies only to the island of Madeira – south coast, north coast and mountainous regions -, while Porto Santo will miss the worst of the weather.
Furthermore, the IPMA has also issued a poor visibility maritime warning for the entire Madeira archipelago until 6:00 am tomorrow, and the Captaincy of the Port of Funchal has issued a statement asking shipowners to ensure that their vessels are moored in a safe area.
The yellow warning (the least serious of a scale of three) is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the weather situation.
