Domestic Violence Against Children and Youngsters Has Increased

Domestic violence has increased considerably in recent years, especially during the pandemic. The Funchal Child and Youth Protection Commission has admitted that there are between 150 and 160 active cases per week. And within any given week, there are usually 4-6 new referrals.

Figures advanced by Fátima Fernandes, Commission President, says that society is increasingly aware of the problems for children and young people, whatever they may be, and that now there is a greater awareness of the problem, those who are suffering, are no longer doing so in silence.
