The Volunteer Firefighters of Câmara de Lobos were called out yesterday as a dead body had been found in a stream in Curral das Freiras.
Later on yesterday afternoon, a police source confirmed that it was a dead body of a tourist who had fallen while walking along an non-recommended path. The source then went on to say that the man, whose nationality was at the time unknown, had obviously been walking alone when he fell from the path above the stream. He was later found by a canyoning group.
It has also been confirmed that an autopsy will be carried out.
