The Sapadores Firefighters of Funchal were called out again at 03:30 this morning, as fire affected areas of the Pingo Doce warehouse fire, located in São Martinho, began to re-ignite. Within an hour the fire was back under control.
According to local media outlet, JM, residents have been complaining that the smoke from the debris is making life miserable, and that the remnants of the fire have continued to re-ignite as nothing can be removed until the attending authorities give permission.
However, it is believed that clearing and cleaning works will commence, once firefighters are given the go ahead to start damping down the smouldering debris.
