10 Russian Embassy Employees Declared ‘Persona non Grata’

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE), reported today, that ten Russian Embassy employees in Portugal have been declared ‘persona non grata,’ and that their activities are considered to be “contrary to national security.”

In a statement, the MNE explained that none of these people are career diplomats, and although no one has actually specified their roles within the Russian diplomatic service, they have been told that they are required to leave Portuguese territory within two weeks.

The Portuguese government’s decision follows similar measures taken by several European countries in recent days, and as a result of atrocities against civilians committed by Russian armed forces in the Ukrainian city of Bucha.
