CTT Sends 40 Tonnes of Humanitarian Aid

As part of their solidarity campaign with ‘Ajuda ao Povo da Ukraine,’ which took place between the 2nd and 8th of March in all CTT stores in mainland Portugal, Madeira and, in the Azores, on the islands of São Miguel and Terceira, CTT have managed to collect, and send 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid to help Ukraine refugees.

According to CTT’s Communications Director, Miguel Salema Garção, “the adhesion to this solidarity campaign reflects the generosity of the entire Portuguese population and proves the union between communities in times of difficulty. Once again, we took advantage of our presence throughout the national territory, and the voluntary nature of our employees, as well as our close connection with local populations to help bring as much assistance as possible to those who need it the most.”

Eight trucks left CTT’s International Operations Centre in Famões, each covering nearly four thousand kilometres to bring aid to refugees on the border between the Ukraine and Poland. The 230 pallets included clothing, food, shoes, children’s items, and personal hygiene and first aid products.

Several logistics partners offered their transportation and service support to the campaign, – Galp, TAP, Transportes Pascoal, Transportes Bernardo Marques and Transportes Figueiredo & Figueiredo -.
