As of yesterday, the 1st of March, mask wearing was no longer mandatory on the continent, however, the President of Madeira, insists that he will not back down on his decision of keeping mask wearing mandatory until the 15th. By this time, he said to journalists, we will make our decision, as originally planned.
The President of the Regional Government guarantees that by this time “the restrictions will be progressively and calculatedly eased. We were never afraid to take the measures, but we are also not going to go crazy here and pretend that everything has gone away. We have a 91% vaccination rate which is good.” However, when asked if mask wearing indoors would be stopped, he said that he is still seeking advice from the health authorities, and will make a decision when he has all the necessary information.
