A local source told local newspaper, JM, that yesterday, both the police and a pre-hospital team approached a man who was acting suspiciously, hurling insults at passersby and being a nuisance to the general public in Largo do Chafariz, Funchal. Believing the man to be a threat, not only to himself but the public at large, he was immediately immobilised, detained and taken to the nearby police station.
This morning, the Public Security Police (PSP) carried out an identification of the man, who is believed to be aged 65 or older, who was under the influence of an as yet unidentified drug.
As yet, not further details have been released.
