Barefoot Pilgrimage Across Madeira

Polish ‘walker’ Krzysztof Bubel left Santa Cruz this morning, as he started his 180 km journey along the Camino Real (Royal Path) 23, barefoot and alone. During his journey, Krzysztof Bubel will be dealing with differing topography, and altitudes ranging from from 0 to 870 m.

The Royal Paths are roads that cross Madeira, and were built when settlers first arrived on the island. Caminho Real 23 is the longest, encircling the entire island along the coast.
