According to Vitor Prior, of the Madeira delegation of the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea, dust will again affect the general atmosphere from Thursday. In a statement, he said that only on six other occasions in the last 90 years has Madeira been so continually affected by dust pollution.
The phenomenon, he says is a result of the current dry weather affecting the continent.
