Students Create Beach Ashtrays

Students from the Professional Health Care Technician course recently participated in a ‘beach ashtray art expression workshop, at the Henrique and Francisco Franco Museum.

As part of the Escola Azul project, participants created a number of ashtrays by painting recycled metal cans as part of the  cigarette, “butt hunt” initiative.  The new ashtrays will be offered to smokers on a designated Funchal beach.

Aware of the dangers of cigarette butts to marine life, students call for the promotion of more sustainable attitudes and behaviours through the use of beach ashtrays.
