This weekend has seen a series of violent incidents.
One man was attacked in the centre of Câmara de Lobos on Saturday night. On finding the victim, who had been stabbed in the abdomen the Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Firefighters immediately transported him to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
At 06:00 yesterday morning the Public Security Police (PSP), and a Red Cross Ambulance were called to a domestic disturbance. Apparently, a 20-year-old man had visited an old girlfriend to explain the situation, and ended up being hit over the head with a baseball bat.
According to a PSP source, the young man had made a nuisance of himself and ended up needing emergency medical help.
Late this afternoon (Sunday), a 50 year-old man had to be rescued and taken to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital A & E department by the Portuguese Red Cross after being hit over the head with a hammer.
The incident took place on Rua da Conceição, next to the Associação Protetora dos Pobres, in Funchal, where the victim was involved in an alleged altercation with a neighbour. The victim received a blow to the front of his head from a hammer his ‘opponent,’ was conveniently carrying in his bag.
The Public Security Police (PSP) attended the scene.
