PCP Propose Free Medicines For the Over 65’s

The Portuguese Communist Party (PCP), believe that free medicine should be available for all those aged 65 and over, the chronically ill, and families in need.

In a statement, PCP deputy, Ricardo Lume, defended the importance of free access to medicine, by saying:

“We frequently hear of cases where people cannot afford to buy all the medicines they have been prescribed, and this is because they cannot afford to buy them. We live in a region where there are more than 42 thousand elderly people, who, on average, receive a pension of €362. With such low pensions, many of our elderly have to choose between shopping at the supermarket or buying medicines, and choosing between paying the rent or paying their utility bills.”

We need to make a difference, and the only way we can do this is by providing free medicines to our senior citizens, those in need, and the chronically ill.
