Operation Storm Takes Place At Sea

Yesterday, the Judiciary Police (PJ), the Navy and the Air Force put into affect a new operation to Combat the International Traffic in Narcotic Drugs, called ‘Operation Storm.’ As a result, three foreign citizens were arrested, two men and one woman.

For the last couple of days the armed forces and the Judiciary Police had worked closely together to finalise the operation, as well as wait, so that they could  intercept a sailboat called “Taeping Uuras,” which they knew was being used to transport large quantities of drugs.

Unlike other drug seizures, Operation Storm took place in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, south of Madeira in adverse weather conditions, which meant that the Navy actually had to rescue the three drug traffickers, while part of the fifty package, one tonne cocaine haul, ended up sinking to the bottom of the ocean.
