The Municipality of São Vicente is to install a 280 metre climbing wall which can be used by both professionals and amateurs. The President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque praised the idea, saying that it will create a new tourist attraction, especially for those who are into extreme sports.
During his presentation of the project, Fernando Góis, Vice-President of the municipality, stressed the importance of creating new sporting activities, and that its proposed location next to Clube Naval is ideal.
The project will create three new jobs, and cost in the region of €150,000.
