The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Admiral António Silva Ribeiro, today presented the President of the Regional Government with the Medalha da Cruz de São Jorge (St. George Cross).
In his speech, Admiral António Silva Ribeiro praised the “magnificent environment of cooperation” existing between Madeira and the Armed Forces, using Madeiran programmes such as “Sentinela” and Alista-te por um dia” as prime examples.
Expressing his gratitude, the President of Madeira highlighted the “patriotism” of the Madeirans, despite being “intrinsically autonomous.”
The Chief of Staff also announced that he hopes that in 2022 it will be possible to build drones in Madeira.
