During his Portugal day speech, the President of the Republic publicly declared that funds allocated to economic recovery should not be ‘a shower of blessings for some,’ but rather an opportunity to improve the quality of life for everyone.
Furthermore, he said, no one should forget that Portugal is a land of emigrants and those who decide to live within our borders should be treated as we would wish to be treated should we emigrate but at the same time obey the laws and customs of our country.
Touching on the pandemic, he went on to express his thanks to the thousands of Portuguese health care workers who ‘are looking after us.’ And that today, life starts to begin again.
