EasyJet’s General Director for Portugal, José Lopes, has stated that as soon as Portugal, including Madeira, was placed on the UK green list, the number of EasyJet bookings has soared. As such, EasyJet has decided to expand the number of weekly flights from its UK bases -London Gatwick, London Luton, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Belfast – to Lisbon, Faro, Porto, and Madeira.
In a press release, José Lopes, wrote:
“We are very pleased with the increase in demand for flights between the United Kingdom and Portugal, which has led the company to add another 20,000 seats to satisfy our customers’ desire to travel. We will continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure that we meet customer demand.”
He also issued an appeal to the Portuguese Government to ‘to urgently abandon the limitation of essential trips, reopen the country to tourism and allow European and British citizens to plan their summer holidays in Portugal to support the recovery of the national economy.”
Tickets are now on sale, with fares as low as € 29.99 (Funchal – Bristol).
