Aircraft spotters were recently thrilled as Portuguese Air Force (FAP) 601 ‘Lobos’ Squadron practiced circuits and bumps with their Lockheed P3-C Cup Orion at Madeira Cristiano Ronaldo Airport.
In a statement on their Esquadra 601 Instagram page the FAP said: “Madeira provides an excellent training opportunity for our pilots. Our thanks to Air Traffic Control who always make us feel so welcome, and to the spotters who registered to watch the event, and their excellent photographs.
The first Lockheed P3-C Cup Orion’s were built in the 1960’s, and they are currently used as maritime and anti-submarine surveillance aircraft.
