New Solid Waste Collection Station

Santa Cruz’s new ‘transfer station’ is being installed as part of a series of measures that the City Council have implemented to improve and optimise solid waste (rubbish) collection within the municipality.

The transfer station, which was visited this morning by President Filipe Sousa and councillors Élia Ascensão and Dúlio Freitas, will not only cut costs on the transportation of waste to the incinerator at Meia Serra, but allow for the better management of resources.

In addition to this, the Santa Cruz City Council has invested in new vehicles, the creation of a municipal ecocentre, the installation of ecological waste collection islands, and in the near future, the distribution of domestic recycling bins.
