A Sudden Change in the Weather

Today, the 22nd of September, is the first day of Autumn and the sudden change in the weather has quickly reminded us of how fickle the Mother Nature can be.  However, the island’s weather conditions are currently being affected by tropical storm Paulette, which is approximately 600 km northwest of the island.

According to Victor Prior, director of the Madeira Delegation of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), the current weather pattern will bring in rain and wind during Wednesday and Thursday, but nothing to be alarmed about.

According to the IPMA website, the forecast for both Wednesday and Thursday is overcast skies and showers, which may be intense and accompanied by occasional thunderstorms, especially during Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. Moderate winds are expected, and these may be slightly stronger in the mountainous areas.
