Madeira has been without a German consulate since 2017. However, this has now changed as Germany’s diplomatic representation in Madeira has now re-opened its office in the Concordia Building in Amparo.
Tourist businessman Sérgio Filipe Correia Sousa will be the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, succeeding Ricardo Dumont dos Santos, who held the position for two decades.
The inauguration ceremony takes place next Thursday the 10th of September at 6:30 pm, at the São Tiago Fort and will be attended by the German Ambassador to Portugal, Martin Ney.
