A 43-year-old fisherman was rescued by the Navy this morning from the ‘Lontra Marinha’, who was sailing 30 nautical miles off the southeast coast, after an alert was received by the Funchal Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Subcentre (MRSC Funchal) stating that a crew member felt unwell. The request for help was received at 10:57, and the rescued fisherman later disembarked at Caniçal pier at 1:32 pm.
As yet no information has been given as to whether he needed further medical assistance. Although, the Maritime Police met the man as he disembarked.
